A brief 11 years after its humble beginnings, MCI is now the leader in world-wide sales of professional recording systems with sales of approximately $24 million in 1980. The struggling studio that Harned rebuilt in the 50's and 60's is now one of the world's leading independent studios, and a showplace for MCI's state-of-the-art technology.

The reason for MCI's remarkable success in staying ahead of its competitors is Harned. "Jeep", as he is known in the industry, has been called an "electronic genius," "a very, very bright technician," and a man with "the unique ability to see the essence of the problem and swiftly propose a viable solution."

MCI currently employs some 375 workers, and Harned recently purchased the 156,000 square foot STP headquaters building for his expanded business. In the next year Harned hopes to double the number of employees and intends to challenge the industry leaders in the sales of simpler recording systems, a field only entered by MCI four years ago.
