The console is in the studio.  It is not crated (is this needed?).  They want it gone...they are not inclined to crate it up ro to really help move it.  Hence the great price .......

I wouldn't ship across country without at least some hefty shipping blankets secured around it and SECURED in an air ride truck.  Crating is a big expense, no doubt about it.

If you looking to go insane cheap, you could probably do uship and bid it out.  Depending on what you want done and the timeframe, you could find a truck and a couple of drivers that are in CA and get it moved out your way.

Fortunately for you, a 618 isn't insanely huge and you could probably swing it.

U ship actually is a great idea!  I guess I can try that..I'm under no time constaints here.  So someone wanting to bid on it would have that to their advantage. Cheap is good if and only if it is because they are coming out this way and need the extra $$ to augment gas expenses.

Hi guys, this is my first post here. I found this site last night and need a LOT of help with my MCI machines. However, I practically live at home recording.com. They have a thread you should take a look at before you decide to have anything of value and weight shipped anywhere. I've heard and seen the results of poor packing and shipping and it can make you want to cry to see things like this.

Good luck.

I have decided to not purchase the console.  The more I weighed it all out..the less I wanted the deal.  Randy Blevins here in Nashville will sooner or later find another JH618 and I'll act on it.  He's reliable and stands by his consoles.  Worth more than what one can save on a 'DEAL'.  So meanwhile back at the batcave, I have a Soundcraft 600...in really great condition with a full patchbay.  It ain't bad but I really believe I am headed for an MCI console of one sort or another.  I don't need more than 16 inputs and the size is perfect.  Hey Don..really want to hear and see your set up.  I run Pro Tools HD2 and use an Lynx Aurora 16 as well.  Have all kinds of outobard gear...blah blah blah.  I do have a line on a Soundworkshop Series 34.  It's a nice console as well but again the size difference is a factor...and all the work needed on it as well.
Again, all roads look like they are headed towards the JH618.  We'll see.  No hurry and no worries.
Peace...  Gtrjunkie Toby    Cool

Good luck with that JH618 search.  When I get setup, you are certainly invited over.

I had my 636 shipped from Chicago to Birmingham, Al. in 2003 covered in blankets on an air ride transfer truck.  I paid 900.00 at that time.  I would imagine a trip from Cali to Nashvegas would be quite expensive.  If you get one, think about pulling the modules and shipping them fed ex insured to Blevins, the power supplies everything.
